water has an anaemelous expansion property.. for which when water is cooled to 0 to 4 degree C, it expands,. we low expanding means increase in volume and decrease in density. thus ice floats on water. ask for any further queries and mark it as brainliest

Liquid generally have lower density as compared to solids. This is true. But, due to anomalous expansion of water , we see that ice float on water. In anomalous expansion when a liquid is cooled it first contracts in volume as do other liquids but below 4℃ it starts expanding and continues to do so till the temperature reaches 0℃, the freezing point of water.
