Liquids generally have low density as compared to solids, then why ice floats on water?​

In general, the volume of liquid is more than the volume of solid as the particles of liquids are more free to move thereby more volume. But in case of ice, density of water is maximum at 4∘C. The density of ice is less than that of water. Therefore it floats on water.
