liquids generally have lower density as compared to solids but you must have observed that ice floats on water . why?​

Ice floats on water because it shows anamolous expansion in which hydrogen bonds are formed between molecules of water .They enclose tetrahedral spaces and thus density of ice is less so ice floats on water .

Bhaiyo or bahano ice have 920 kg m^-3
water density is 1000 kg m^-3
water have more density than ice . so it float
