Liquids generally have lower density as compared to solids.But ice floats on water.Why?

Ice is an exceptional case. Water shows a property according to which it shows its maximum density at 4 degree Celsius. Ice is the solid form of ice whose temperature is definitely less than 0 degree.
therefore, density (ice) is less than density (water)
therefore, ice floats on water
