Liquids have fixed volume but not fixed shape why

Explanation:

Particles of liquid are loosely packed due to weak interparticle force but this force of attraction is enough to bind the particles together

Therefore liquid has fixed volume

Particles of liquid slides over each other as they have some space between them therefore they do not have fixed shape and contain the shape of container in which it is kept

Answer:

Hope this would help you!!

Because the particles in liquids are very close together (barely further apart than in solids) liquids do not easily compress, so their volume is fixed. Gases can also flow, so occupy the shape of their whole container. They do not have a fixed shape.
