ESCHERICHIA COLI is used for commercial preparation of riboflavin and vitamin K>. E. coli is also used to produce D-amino acids such as D-p-hydroxyphenylglycine, an important intermediate for synthesis of the antibiotic amoxicillin.they are produced in biotechnology.
