vascular plants are those plants which have a well defined vascular system(xylem and phloem) for the transportation and conduction of water and other nutrients or materials throughout the body

Pteridophytes, and angiosperms possess well developed vascular systems but in gymnosperms xylem lacks vessels and phloem lacks companion cells.

angiosperms are classified on the basis of number of cotyledons
