PHYLUM PLATYHELMINTHES
- This phylum comes under kingdom animalia.
- The members of this phylum have flat body surfaces and are mostly endoparasitic in nature
- This is the first phylum to have organ level of organisation.
- These are the first triploblastic animals having three layers of body wall namely, ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm.
- The members are bilaterally symmetrical.
- They do not have body cavity called coelom and hence acoelomates.
- Excretory organ is flame cells or solenocytes.
- Some examples are tapeworms, blood fluke and liver fluke.

- Bilaterally symmetrical, triploblastic, dorsoventally flattened.
- Acoelomates
- Their digestive cavity has a single opening with mouth only and anus is absent.
- They have flame cells or proronephridia.
- Mode of nutrition is parasitic.
- Reproduction is of both types i.e. asexual and sexual.
- These are hermaphrodite i.e. male and female reproductive organs are present in same animal.
- e.g. - Planaria, Fasciola ( liver fluke ) , taenia solium , blood fluke
