Some of the adaptations in a birds body that allow it to fly are:

Many of a bird's bones are hollow which makes birds' bodies lightweight.

Flying birds have large chest muscles that move the wings.

Birds have feathers that help them fly.

Most birds are well adapted for flight. Their

bones are hollowed out to make them light, their bodies are stream-lined for

decreased air resistance. Their forelimbs have evolved into feathered wings and

their breast bone is enlarged for attachment of strong muscles used in flying.

Their respiratory systems are also larger and more efficient than that of their

mammal counterparts, as flying requires greater amounts of energy than running

or walking.
