Jean-Jaques-Regis de Cambaceres ,the first legal expert who was in the comission made by napoleon in 1800, this comission made 87 times to discuss about the design and draft of this new legal code. Napoleon himself took part 36 times of these meetings.
In 1801, the comission was ready to draft the new code, 4 writers worked on the project ,led by the lawyer Jean-Etienne-Marie-Portalis.
1. Through this code , Napoleon made a revolution in French administrative system. At the dawn of the revolution, French people could be subjected to 400 different legal codes,depends on their residence. But Napoleon believed that there should be 1 law for everyone. Thus he decided to revise the legal system into unified law,in 1799.
2. the new code is consisted of 2281 articles in 3 books. 1st book (of persons)- dealt with civil rights,french citizenship,residence,marriage and family and divorce. 2nd book(of property, and the different modifications of property)- focused on property rights and servitudes. 3rd book(different modes of acquiring the property) - concentrating on bussiness, contracts and inheritance
