▪Transpiration is the process of water loss from leaves of plants through stomata. Transpiration mostly occurs in leaves through special structures present on them called as stomata.

Transpiration always occurs against the gravity. Transpiration involves mainly the xylem cells which become active during absorption process by the roots.

●Advantages of transpiration

▪It helps in the development of the plant body.
▪It helps in the absorption and distribution of water in plants.

●Disadvantages of transpiration
▪Excess transpiration causes wilting in plants.
Most of the water absorbed by more expenditure of energy is lost by transpiration.
