Soil erosion is defined as the process of removal and destruction of top layer of the soil which is also the most fertile layer. The ultimate result of soil erosion is desertification. Desertification is continuous process if left to progress.

Since the state of Rajasthan has largest proportion of area under deserts, it can be said that Rajasthan has largest area under soil erosion.
