they had worst hit the Indian economy by taking forests and all other resources under their control.
they had forced farmers to grow eucalyptus for timber,but this tree makes the entire field infertile.they also forced them to grow commodities and tobacco which makes the land infertile and they generally use to buy them giving very low price to them for selling these in European markets..... in higher prices

Firstly There was immediate and instantaneous destruction of the urban craftsmanships industry. This destruction was created largely by conflict with the cheaper foreign-made machine-made goods from Britain. Secondly, the first few decades of British rule observed the annihilation of the maximum of the old zamindars in Bengal and Madras. This was especially so with Warren Hastings’ system of selling the rights of revenue collection to the highest bidders. Many of the great zamindars of Bengal were completely overthrown and were forced to trade their zamindari rights.
