when the starch is kept in our mouth the saliva which contains ptyalin enzyme converts the starch in to maltose then after reaching the duodenum a enzyme called amylase acts on it and breaks down it in to maltose and dextrins.

ANSWER:
Hydrolysis is the first chemical change undergone by a molecule of starch placed in the mouth and to provide energy it undergoes true crypt cycles through Krebs cycle in the cell.
EXPLANATION:
Hydrolysis is the process of breaking the starch into smaller and simpler sugar molecules. During the hydrolysis process the water is released and the atoms are joined. The starch goes through hydrolysis process and releases water and forms simple molecule of sugars.
The Krebs cycle is also known as citric acid cycle. This reaction is performed by all the aerobic organism to gain energy from carbohydrate, fat and sugar.
