There are three main divisions of the South African Government namely, the Cabinet (Executive), Parliament (Legislature), and Courts (Judiciary). The government is further divided in three tires namely the national level, the provincial level, and the local level.

All the levels have their own executive and legislative forms of authorities within bound spheres. These are defined as interrelated, interdependent, and distinctive in the constitution.
