Heya..!
white blood corpuscles are also called Leucocytes
let us see different types of leucocytes and their functions, count, formation.
leucocytes can be classified in to
- Granulocytes
- Agranulocytes
GRANULOCYTES( granules present in Cytoplasm, nucleus lobed)
it includes Eosinophils, Basophils,Neutrophils.
Eosinophils:
- 1-6 % of total WBC count
-bilobed nucleus( stained by acids)
-formation takes place in bone marrow
-non-phagocytic, increase in no. during allergy, play role in immunity.
Basophils
-1% of total WBC count
-usually three lobed nucleus(stained by bases)
-formation takes place in bone marrow
-release heparin and histamine.
Neutrophils
- 40-70% of total WBC count.
-many lobed nucleus( can be stained by both acids and bases)
-formation takes place in bone marrow.
-phagocytic; engulf germs and dead cells.
AGRANULOCYTES(cytoplasm lacks granules, nucleus not lobed)
it includes Lymphocytes and Monocytes
Lymphocytes
- 20-45% of total WBC count.
-large rounded nucleus.
- fomation takes place in lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, tonsils, bonemarrow, Payer's patches
--motile non-phagocytic, secrete antibodiesantibodies, help in healing.
Monocytes
- 2-10% of total WBC count.
-nucleus is bean shaped.
-formation takes place in bone marrow.
-motile, phagocytic, engulf germs, and cell debris, often changes in to macrophages.
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.
