see DDT is non-biodegradable and undergoes the process of bio-magnification (the increasing concentration of a substance in the tissues of organisms at successively higher levels in a food chain.)and affect birds the most. it interferes with the metabolism of calcium and results in thinning of egg shells with leads to their pre-mature breaking and thereby reducing the bird population
