Dehydrating agent is an agent which absorbs the water. It is present in dehydrating process. The common dehydration agents used in organic synthesis is sulphuric acid, concentrated phosphoric acid, hot ceramics, hot aluminum oxide. The reverse of dehydrating process is called hydration. It is used for purpose of drying.
