This project will utilize 3,000 TMC of Godavari flood water, draining into the sea, to be diverted to the Rayalaseema region. 50% of the canal works have been completed so far. We are keen on completing the entire project by 2019.

Given that the Polavaram’s completion would take time, the Chief Minister has taken up Rs 1,300-crore Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project as an immediate solution to provide water to Krishna Delta farmers and solve water woes of the parched Rayalaseema region. This lift irrigation project has become operational and is helping farmers in the Delta region.

Once the Godavari water is diverted to Krishna Delta, Rayalaseema can be fed by Krishna water from Srisailam. Not only does this project serve the drought-prone Rayalaseema region, it will also cater to the industrial activity around the new capital city.

Given that our state has witnessed worst drought periods in the last few years, this project will prove beneficial and eliminate drought conditions from our state. This project will also help our future generations realize that we need to utilize our resources efficiently and explore sustainable ways of living. Our aim is to make the state drought-free.

The Chief Minister holds a virtual inspection of the Polavaram Project works every Monday, where drone cameras take him through the progress of the works...
