Add a copper electrode, place it near the iron nail, and connect it to the switch (anode position). Add the copper sulfate solution to the bath and close the switch. Allow electroplating to take place for 2 minutes. The iron nail should now be sufficiently coated with copper.

Many metals can have copper plating, including silver, aluminium, gold and plastic. Any iron based metals will need a nickel base coat as copper does not easily plate onto a passivated surface.
