The list of national parks in Jammu and Kashmir is listed below:

1) City Forest (Salim Ali) National Park

This national park is established in 1992 at Srinagar. The old name of this national park is City forest NP. The area of this national park is 9.07 sq. km. This park is named after renowned ornithologist Mr Salim MoiZddin Abdul Ali. This park is famous for musk deer. This park is known for endangered birds Tetraogallus tibetanus,Hangul, serow, chakar, monal.

2) Dachigam National Park

This is established in 1981 at 22 km from Srinagar. It is 141 sq. km spread in terms of area. This park is famous for Hangul. This park has 50 species of trees, 20 shrubs and 500 species of herbs. There are 150 species of birds in this park.

3) Hemis National Park

This park is established in 1981 covering an area of 440sqkm. It is a high-altitude national park near Leh. This is the only national park of Himalayas. It is famous for snow leopards. The park is notified protected area of India’s largest national park of India.

4) Kishtwar National Park

This park is established in 4th February 1981 at Kishtwar district. The area of this park is 400 sq. km. The famous animals of this park are Tetraogallus tibetanus and brown bear. The main trees found in this national park is pinus, cedrus, deodar. This park is composed of 15 species of mammals and 50 species of birds. Hangul, leopard, musk deer, Himalayan brown bear are found in this park.
