Most liquids that conduct electricity are solutions of acids, bases and salts. Distilled water is free of salts hence it is a poor conductor. When salt is dissolved in distilled water, we obtain a salt solution. This solution is a conductor of electricity.

The materials which allow electric current to pa.ss through are called good conductors of electricity. For example, metals like copper and alu inium. The materials which do not allow electric current to pa.ss through them easily are called poor conductor of electricity. For example, rubber, plastic and wood.
