Explanation:

Ionic bonding is a chemical bond between a positive ion and negative ion. Ionization energy, electronegativity, and lattice energy are the factors that influence the formation of ionic bonds of elements.

Hope this helps u.

The factors affecting the formation of cations & anions:

  • Ionisation energy and electron gain enthalpy affect the formation of cation and anion respectively.
  • For the formation of a cation, an element will lose an electron. Lowering the ionization energy easy will be the isolation of the ion from the gaseous atom.
  • For the formation of an anion, the electron is added to the outermost shell.
  • Electron gain enthalpy must be low for the formation of an anion when an electron is added to the outermost shell energy is released. highly negative electron gain enthalpy means easy the product is formed.
  • Chlorine has the most negative electron gain enthalpy because chlorine can easily take up electrons.
