2) Reeling- When the cocoon is made, it is boiled which separates out the threads .
3) Dyeing- The silk threads are colored by dyes.
4) Spinning- The dyed threads are spun together and sent to the shops.
Silk was first discovered in China. The empress noticed many cocoons on mulberry trees. Then accidentally, one of the cocoons fell in her cop of tea. Because the tea was hot, the cocoon separated out into fine threads. Then the empress found out that the threads were very smooth. This way, silk was used in making clothes.
