We can find about 2000 plant species and over 400 medicinal plants in this area. The animals in the region are leopard, tiger, elephant, sloth bear, Indian giant flying squirrel, bison, Niligiri Tahr, deer, etc.  The forests have large number of trees like teak, rosewood, bamboo and sandalwood.
