Following problems are associated with the construction of dam:-

1) Dams cause large scale relocation of the local population.

2) The amount spend by government on building dams is tremendous.

3) Building dams requires nearby area to get submerged completely which disturbs the areas of local flora and fauna.

4) Most of the time dams are not able to meet the purpose for which they were built .

5) Sometimes collapse in dams triggers heavy flood.

6) Dams create hindrance for river fishes to travel for spawning making it difficult for aquatic animals to reproduce.

7) When the submerged vegetation of the river starts getting decomposed then the conditions are very unfit for aquatic organisms and even might cause water pollution due its lack of flow to other areas.

I hope this helps you.
