With discontent running high among people across municipalities, several candidates with no political track record have decided to contest the upcoming polls. Techies and businessmen are among those jumping into the poll fray hoping to make a difference on ground.

1.“I am planning to resign and take the voice of the people to the government,” said the 38-year-old, who says the struggle for water and good roads has been an uphill task till now
2.“Growing up in the 80s, I saw my father stand tall even against Naxals. Like him, I too want to work for the people,” he said. Alashyam is among two candidates who are being put up by the Alkapur Township Residents’ Forum. Members of the Forum have been fighting for basic amenities for the township for long, but in vain.
3.The other candidate, Shrikant Swami, is a businessman contesting from Ward 9, Manikonda. “We are living in this high-profile IT corridor area in 2020, but it feels like we are back in the 1970s,” said Swami.
4.He says that safe drinking water is his primary poll plank. Speaking about why the resident welfare association has put up candidates this year, he said, “We had faith that local leaders and the government will do some good, but all in vain. So, we have decided to represent ourselves in the government bodies.”
