Differences between the two Olympics: 1) Ancient games were only for males, only freeman who spoke Greek could compete. Women were not allowed to watch the games either. 2) Participants and attendants were guaranteed safe passage to Olympia to compete. 3) A sacred truce a month before the games, so wars were postponed. 4) Cows were sacrificed between races, 5) The games were a Religious festival in honour of Zeus.

6) Eventually spectators and competitors, from the entire Greek world (which stretched from Spain to Georgia) were allowed to attend the games; 7) athletes, boxers and wrestlers competed nude. 8) The modern Olympics has more events and more countries competing.
