Explanation:

ICs have two main advantages over discrete circuits: cost and performance. Cost is low because the chips, with all their components, are printed as a unit by photolithography rather than being constructed one transistor at a time. Furthermore, packaged ICs use much less material than discrete circuits

Integrated circuit are smaller ans usually require less power to operate, they are extremely difficult (if not impossible) to modify or repair. They almost have to be replaced, and if the IC or "chip" Is a proprietary chip, then the entire unit may have to be replaced. The IC is also more susceptible to electric damage from a power surge than it's component cousins.

IC's have the advantage in weight, size and power consumption, giving IC's the nod on portability. They are also less prone to damage from physical jarring- known as " Solid state".

Advantages of integrated circuit over transistor:

While typically possible to perform the same thing that an IC can do, using transistor, the industry has pretty well established that IC's are more efficient in terms of spaces, capacity, speed and energy consumption.

Integrated circuit are typically nothing more than a specially designed package containing many micro miniaturized transistor and other semiconductor.
