Mammalian endothermy—warm-bloodedness—gave them a competitive advantage over reptiles and other ectothermic vertebrates, enabling mammals to “rule the night” at a time when voracious reptiles (dinosaurs and others) ruled the day. Cool temperatures and lack of sunlight were a hindrance to the reptiles, but not to mammals.

Each to their own. Animals have evolved to deal with their environment and being reptiles being ‘cold-blooded’ also has its distinct advantages. Many can go weeks without food after a big meal.

Birds are generally even more ‘warm-blooded’ than mammals, having a temperature of around 38 - 40°. They need this to keep their largest muscles for flying warm and ready to go at any time.

I really can’t think of an dis/advantage. Insects quickly breed hundreds of young because they are prime food for many animals. Elephants have very few predators so only need to have one each 4 years.
