Dear Student,
There was a drastic change in the life of the Indian villages under British rule. During the pre-British era, the villages were self-sufficient and production was done for serving their own purpose only. But under British rule, the villages came into contact with the towns and cities as a result of which they became mere suppliers of raw materials to the cities and towns. Moreover, the village administration also came under the British and the zamindari, jotedari, and ryotwari systems too sprang up at that time.
