Following are the properties of water which justify that it is a liquid at room temperature :

1) It has a definite volume but not a definite shape. It takes the shape of the container in which it is placed.

2) It is not rigid and can flow. This is due to lesser intermolecular forces of attraction between its molecules as compared to solids.

Cork cells are

1) airtight

2) dead

3) suberized and impervious to water

Cork cells do not allow entry of any microorganisms and also provide mechanical support or strength to the plant.

The chemical present in cork is suberin.

Cork provides insulation to the trees from freezing temperatures.
Cork protects the inner tissues of trees from the attacks of microorganisms and prevent water loss.
