There are three types of grasslands. These are as follows:

Tropical grasslands: These occur on either side of the equator and extends till the tropics. The grass can grow very tall, about 3 to 4 meters in height. Savannas grasslands of Africa are of this type. Some animals found are elephants, zebras, giraffes, deers etc.

Temperate grasslands: These are found in mid latitudinal zones and in the interior parts of the continents. Wild buffaloes, bisons, antelopes are common animals found here.

Thorny bushes: These are found in the dry regions. These are located on the western margins of the continents. The vegetation cover is scarce here because of scanty rain and scorching heat.
