The factors on which the amount of heat produced depends on the below:

  1. Electric current,
  2. Resistance to heating element and
  3. Time period to utilise the energy.

  • The material, length and thickness determines the heat production amount.
  • This effect is applied on lightening appliances like filament lamps, fluorescent lamps, electric cookers, electric heaters, irons, kettles.
  • Higher the resistance more the heat is produced, long the duration larger the heat is produced, more the current the heat produced is higher.
  • It forms the Joule’s equation of electrical heating.
