List the factors on which the resistance of a conductor in the shape of a wire depends.
(i)Why are metals good conductors of electricity while glass is a bad conductor of electricity? Give reasons.
(ii)Why are alloys commonly used in electrical heating devices? Give reason.​

Answer:

i) Metals are good conductors of electricity due to presence of free electrons and non-metals are bad conductors due to non-availability of free electrons. As glass is a non-metal it is a bad conductor of electricity.

ii) Alloys have high resistance and high melting point compared to metals, so Alloys can't easily be oxidized and burnt. Thus, used in electrical heating devices.
