Factors that determine the type of bond that will be formed between two atoms
1.If the 2 atoms combine and attain inert gas configuration then they will form ionic bonds.
2.If the 2 atoms combine and attain pseudo inert gas configuration then they will form covalent type of bonds.
3.If the molecule contain less number of cations or anions then they will form ionic bond
Ex: NaCl
4.If the molecule contain more number of cations or anions then they will form covalent type of bonds
Ex : Al2O3
