#1 Party funds. The party having high fund collection surely would have advantage.
#2 Fame. Only famous people can nominate names in elections. A poor peasant or daily waged person can't even imagine about nominating his name in elections.
#3 Ruling party. Generally the ruling party uses the govt. machinery and spend lots of money in coming elections.
#4 Lack of awareness. Illiterate people don't give votes on general issues. That's why The Big Parties of India fights on the issues of Religion, caste, quota, etc and etc.
