:•The main function of Mesosomes is to increase the surface area of plasma membranes.

:•It play a important role in cellular respiration.

:•Mesosomes are rich in enzymes which helps to perform special functions like cellular respiration.

:•But all Prokaryotic cells don't have mesosomes.

:•Mesosomes are also controls activity of autolytic enzymes.

• It consists of vesicles, tubules and

lamellae.

Mesosme is of two types:

1. Septal and

2. Lateral.
