The list of "Himalayan rivers" and "peninsular rivers" that helped in the formation "North Indian plain" are: the Ganga, the Brahmaputra and the Indus and their tributaries. As the rivers came from the northern mountains, they deposited alluvial soil. This alluvial soil was deposited in a big basin which was situated at the "foothillsof theHimalayas". Depositions for millions of years led to the "creation" of this basin. The "Northern plain" is divided into 3 parts: "Punjab plains", "Ganga plains" and the "Brahmaputra plains".
