There are many human activities that are directly and indirectly responsible for the degradation of the land. Some of them are listed below-

  1. Population explosion and encroachment by people has also been of major concern as the use of land for farming, grazing, and commercial purposes is increasing daily.
  2. Humans clear the forest (deforestation) and this has resulted in many major problems like soil erosion, landslide, etc.
  3. Overgrazing of the livestock that leads to non-growth of the grass leading to soil erosion
  4. Overuse of pesticides by humans which renders the land useless after a period of time causing salination and degradation of the soil quality.
  5. Waterlogging or excessive irrigation and improper drainage facilities in a field have led to an increase in salinity in the soil.
  6. Desertification occurs when there is an excess of human activity in any of the above forms along with mining
  7. Dumping of the waste which is non-degradable which has led to soil pollution making it completely barren.

Answer:

Humans impact the physical environment in many ways: overpopulation, pollution, burning fossil fuels, and deforestation. Changes like these have triggered climate change, soil erosion, poor air quality, and undrinkable water.
