The inorganic components of soil are...
i) Silica -- is present in the soil in the form of small crystaline grains, the main constituent of sand.It is derived from the disintegration of rocks.
ii) Clay -- is a mixture of silicates and many other minerals such as iron, calcium, sodium, potassium and aluminium.Clayey soil retains moisture.
iii) Chalk (Calcium Carbonate) -- provides the most essesntial element for plant growth which is calcium.

Many soils contain iron oxides, FeO (OH), magnetite (Fe3,O4). Certain soils contain titanium, and manganese oxides. Calcium carbonate is another common component of soil. Soil also contains a mixture of minerals as carbonates, sulphates, chlorides and nitrates
