Hierarchy is defined as the ancestry or carrying forward the characters from gross to more specific nature.

The NDF structure is the first of its kind, comprising of all the kinds of graphical structures. The extension is .ndf.

From the NDF structure comes the WCS component of a NDF.

Then comes the HDS object, which is further more classification of WCS.

Then comes the XML document.

Then comes the file format .zip or .jar. We are more or less familiar with it.

They are again classified into the FITS file. From which comes the normal file parts.
