There are five major hormones which are auxin, cytokinin, gibberellin, abscisic acid, and ethylene. Each hormone differs in its effects.

1) Auxins promote stem elongation, inhibit growth of lateral buds (maintains apical dominance). They are produced in the stem, buds, and root tips.

2) Cytokinins are plant hormones that cause increased cell division by stimulating the process of mitosis. They are made naturally by plants but have been synthesized by humans

3) Gibberellins are growth hormones that stimulate cell elongation and cause plants to grow taller. Gibberellins also have a role in other plant processes, such as stem elongation, germination, flowering, and fruit ripening

4) Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone which functions mainly as a growth inhibitor. Abscisic acid promotes the dormancy in seeds and buds [ this is the opposite of breaking the dormancy]. It also promotes closing of stomata. Abscisic acid promotes falling of leaves

5) It acts at trace levels throughout the life of the plant by stimulating or regulating the ripening of fruit, the opening of flowers, and the abscission (or shedding) of leaves.

Auxins : It promotes cell growth.

✒ It include bending movement in plants.

✒ It induces parthenocarpy in many plants.

Gibberellin : it induced internal nodal elongation.

✒It cause growth of aerial parts.

✒ It induce parthenocarpy.

✒ It can delay ageing.

Cytokinin : It promotes cell division and hence naturally present in Greater concentration in the area of rapid cell division.

✒ It delay ageing.

✒ It promotes growth of lateral buds and check apical dominance.

Abscisic Acid : it inhibits growth.

✒ It induced stomatal closure under water stress conditions.

✒ It caused by wiltng of leaves.

Ethylene : It promotes fruit ripening.

✒ It is responsible for falling of leaves and fruits

✒It induced more growth of upper part of leaf
