Properties of plastics :-

1. Reactivity -

Plastics do not react easily with air and water. So, they do not get oxidised and don't corrode easily. They are also an unaffected by most of the chemical in normal conditions. So, they are ideal for storing foodstuffs and other materials.

2. Light weight and durability -

Plastics are light in weight and durable. Thats why they are used to make different household and industrial products. This property also make them useful to be used in aircraft and spacecraft . They are widely used to make buckets marks crockery and so many things to store and carry things.

3. Non-conductivity of electricity -

Plastics do not allow electricity to pass through them. So, these are shockproof. That's why they are used to make the covering of electric wire and handle of electric appliances.

4. Non-conductivity of heat -

Plastics do not conduct heat, so they do not get heated up like metals. So, these are used to make handles of kitchen utensil , heating pans, etc.

5. Non-biodegradability-

Plastics are non - biodegradable that means they do not get the decomposed by microorganisms. This quality make then insect resistant, fungi resistant and they last long.
