list the similarities and differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration
Answers
similarities:
1.aerobic and anaerobic respiration, is that they both use glucose as the starting molecule. This is called the substrate.
2.both produce ATP, however, aerobic respiration produces a lot more ATP compared to anaerobic respiration
differences :
1.Aerobic respiration uses oxygen and is only completed when there is a plentifly supply of oxygen. Anaerobic respiration does not use oxygen
2.Aerobic respiration produces carbon dioxide and water from the reaction. On the other hand, anaerobic repiration only produces lactic acid, which can be harmful in large quantities and so has to be transported to the liver once it has been produced in order to be broken down
Similarities and differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration are -
Similarities -
- Both the respiration methods generate energy in the form of ATP.
- The substrate required in both the methods is glucose.
- Occurs inside cells.
Differences -
- Aerobic respiration yields more ATP in comparison to anaerobic respiration.
- Products in aerobic respiration are carbon dioxide and water while products in anaerobic respiration are alcohol and carbon dioxide.
- Aerobic respiration occurs in cytoplasm and mitochondria while anaerobic respiration occurs in cytoplasm.
