Features of a pine tree:-

  • Most pines have thick and scaly bark.

  • A lot of branches arise from the same, spirally arranged points on the tree.

  • Pines have leaves shaped like needles that remain on the trees throughout the whole year (evergreen plants).

  • Pines reproduce via cones, conically shaped structures that contain male and female sex organs.

The areas higher up on mountains are windier, colder, and receive more snow than places lower on the mountains or in valleys. The weather also stays colder longer higher up in the mountains, which means there is a shorter growing season – the time when plants and trees can grow.

Pine trees are called conifers because:-

They're called conifers because they had pine cones, from the Latin words “conus” meaning cone and “ferre” meaning to carry. Inside the pine cones were seeds to make little pine tree babies.
