There are four main types of disease:
- infectious diseases
- deficiency diseases
- hereditary diseases (including both genetic diseases and non-genetic hereditary diseases)
- physiological diseases
Infectious Disease :-
Infectious diseases can spread in a variety of ways: through the air, from direct or indirect contact with another person, soiled objects, skin or mucous membrane, saliva, urine, blood and body secretions, through sexual contact, and through contaminated food and water.
Deficiency Disease :-
The main causes of nutritional deficiencies include a poor diet that lacks essential nutrients, a disease or medication that impairs absorption, or both. The body is able to store some nutrients, so a deficiency may not be caught until the body has been without the nutrient for some time.
Hereditary Diseases :-
Heredity, the sum of all biological processes by which particular characteristics are transmitted from parents to their offspring.
Physiological Diseases :-
Diseases can also be transmitted by a mechanical or biological vector, an animal (typically an arthropod) that carries the disease from one host to another. Mechanical transmission is facilitated by a mechanical vector, an animal that carries a pathogen from one host to another without being infected itself.
