BLOOD - FUNCTIONS :

(1) Blood maintains water balance in the tissues.

(2) It regulates body temperature by distributing the heat (produced in tissues) to different body parts.

(3) WBCs provide immunity by destroying the disease-causing germs.

(4) It (BLOOD) prevents excessive bleeding by formation of blood clots.

(5) Blood carries the waste products for excretion to the kidneys.

(6) Blood is red in colour due to the presence of an iron-protein compound HAEMOGLOBIN which acts as the OXYGEN-CARRIER.

  • It removes Carbon Dioxide as a waste product by breathing out.
