The archaeological and literary sources of knowledge assists historians in order to trace the facts of history who are yet to reveled in accurate manner. Archaeological sources in the forms of buildings and structures such as temples dedicated to their beloving gods, inscriptions sucha as ashoka inscriptions which was inscribed for the knowledge of their people, coins issued by rulers and weaponry used by their army.
Literary sources are the written sources in the form of manuscripts, autobiographies of different rulers and the accounts of the court rulers telling about social and political life.
