**2. high electron gain enthalpy :--
17th group members which are halogens has highest value of electron gain enthalpy in its particular period so they can form strong ionic bonds .
**3. high lattice enthalpy :-)
the elements which have high lattice enthalpy can make strong ionic bonds .
